Step 11 Schedule the Closing

At this point we can “pencil in” your closing date. You can arrange to take the day off from work, just know the date could change. In fact it will often not be confirmed until the “clear to close” comes with as little notice as one or two days possible, sometimes as much as a week.
Closing normally happens at the title company chosen by you (the buyer). They will work with you on a morning or afternoon time slot. The closing can last anywhere from 45 minutes to a couple of hours. You will be signing many papers all explained to you by the closing coordinator.
The title company will advise you on what you need to bring to closing.
If you are taking possession at close the keys are normally exchanged after signing. If you are taking possession at a later date the method of exchange of keys is normally agreed upon at this time.
